Gambling in Oklahoma
Did you know that gambling addiction—such as addiction to casinos, slot machines, or horse racing—is more common than you might think?
Oklahoma ranks 2nd in the nation for the total number of casinos, with over 130 tribal gaming facilities and a high density of electronic games.
An estimated 1 in 16 Oklahomans (6.3%) meet the clinical criteria for a gambling disorder, while another 23.5% are considered at risk.
Approximately 57.9% of Oklahomans have gambled within the last 12 years. Residents living within 50 miles of a casino are twice as likely to develop a gambling problem.
Nationally, male gambling addicts accumulate between $55,000 and $90,000 in debt, while female addicts average approximately $15,000.
